Check out the modern art in the stylish Pallant House Gallery, then head to Roux brothers-trained Sam and Janet Mahoney's elegant and contemporary in-house restaurant that's worth a visit by itself. The menu offers simple and unpretentious dishes created from the finest quality ingredients. Sam applies his classical training to light, modern dishes such as fillet of wild bass, saffron and dill crushed potatoes, buttered leeks and crab and roasted free range quail, thyme and squash gnocchi, spinach and roasted carrots. The good value table d'hote menu might include ham hock and parsley terrine, chicory and quince salad. Janet, who has had the experience of managing some of London’s top restaurants, runs a professionally efficient yet welcoming front of house. Afternoon tea features house made pastries and breads.
