The simply dressed dining room gives stunning views over the nearby Esthwaite Water in Georgian hotel which was once Beatrix Potter’s holiday home. Ees Wyke serves a daily five course dinner menu utilising a range of local ingredients. Start with a crisp little gem salad with apple and almond black pudding topped with a poached egg and vinaigrette dressing. A light courgette and parmesan soufflé could come next with gently garlicky noisettes of local lamb pan fried and served with wine jus for the main. A red wine and cassis poached pear served with lightly whipped, Cointreau flavoured cream could be one choice from a selection of desserts with cheese served after including a number of notable local varieties.
