Once a humble village pub, Eat on the Green in Udny Green has, thanks to Aberdeenshire-born chef Craig Wilson, been transformed into a foodie hotspot. When he opened the restaurant in 2004, Wilson sought-out a network of local meat, fish and vegetable suppliers to showcase his passion for the north east’s produce in his cooking – and his hearty, flavourful recipes do just that. He mixes local produce with his innovative flair for modern Mediterranean flavours, producing dishes like in Arbroath smokie, leek and basil fish cake on wilted spinach with caper salsa. Housed in charming old building with views over the village green, the restaurant can seat up to 70, with the ‘Post Room’ private dining room (formerly the village post office) available for private hire.
