Casamia, 38 High Street, Bristol

Casamia started life in 1999 and was, for seven years, a family-run, 100-cover traditional Italian trattoria, before transforming into a chic, understated 40-cover modern Italian restaurant and receiving Bristol’s only Michelin Star. It’s fronted by ambitious chef brothers Jonray Sanchez-Iglesias and Peter Sanchez-Iglesias who credit their former-restaurateur parents with instilling culinary knowledge in them from a young age. Both lunch and dinner menus are set, varying in price from £25 and £45 and £45 and £68 respectively. Local and superior ingredients are given centre stage in dishes including scrambled duck egg, cured pig, winter savoury; Loch Duart salmon, cauliflower, bulgar wheat, coastal herbs; roast saddle of lamb, carrots, parsley, pinenuts and kettle corn veloute, Amalfi lemon sorbet.
