Tiled floors, panelled walls and red banquettes create an authentic French provincial bistrot atmosphere in this cosy and popular venue. This family run restaurant offers a daily changing lunch and dinner menus which are written in chalk on blackboards in true Gallic tradition. The cuisine is traditional bistrot fare offering as such dishes as moules marinières or baked Camembert with caramelised apples and pistachios amongst the starters. Main courses might include a classic chateaubriand with bearnaise sauce for two people, or a grilled venison haunch steak that has been rubbed with juniper berries and garlic. Desserts are a speciality and there is a simple but well chosen wine list.
