Chef Bruno Loubet is back in town with Bistrot Bruno and back impressing the critics after his self-imposed exile in Australia. The menu is refreshingly simple but mouth-wateringly good and includes a concise selection of authentic French dishes with some unexpected flavour combinations such as confit lamb shoulder with chargrilled red pepper, lemon puréee and white bean and harissa. There’s also some rustic dishes like Mauricette snails and meatballs, royale de champignons sauvages made to his mother’s old recipe. The dining room at boutique Zetter Hotel in Clerkenwell is light and airy with large windows which overlook the cobbled St John’s Square. Encouraging adventurous wine choices, each week a different quality wine is offered with little or no mark up.
