This jaw-droppingly beautiful all-day diner from star chef Jason Atherton is a real trend setter with a truly glamorous setting with genuinely top drawer cooking - a hitherto rare combination indeed. There's style by the bucket-load with a stunning back-lit bar that nearly reaches the 5m-high corniced ceiling, dozens of antique framed artworks crammed Langan’s Brasserie-style on the walls, mohair-covered banquettes and a central row of booths destined to be occupied by the great and the good. The friendly front-of-house team is as sharp as their black waistcoat and crisp white shirt attire. The menu has been compiled with impeccable taste and includes modernist flourishes like a lime ice cream to accompany scallop ceviche and a sweet potato brûlée dessert. But for the most part this is classically rooted food with the likes of crab salad with poached leeks and crunchy brioche crumbs and rack of Romney Marsh lamb with meltingly tender braised neck and Moroccan aubergine purée.
