There may be alchemy afoot as chef Atul Kochhar’s Mayfair turns basic ingredients into delicately spiced nuggets brimming with authentic Indian flavours. The overall feel is contemporary although there are nods towards Indian culture in the sculptures and carved wooden screens dotted around the restaurant. The dishes are as exquisitely presented as they are spiced. You could begin with spice dusted scallops with a ginger and grape dressing with tandoori black leg chicken supreme with “bhuna” thigh and tossed kale coming next. A zingy lime mousse with lemon thyme jelly and basil sorbet could refresh your palate at the end. If you have trouble deciding which dishes to sample you could go for the ten course grazing menu instead.
