Barcaldine House

This 18th century Georgian mansion set in the beautiful Argyll countryside is now home to a luxury boutique hotel, cottages and restaurant. In the elegant dining room, the chef showcases some of Scotland's best produce in dishes such as hand dived seared scallops, carrot and pea puree with butter foam, or pan seared venison with fondant potato, victorian cabbage and red currant jus. There's assured modern takes on French classics such as rabbit and foie gras terrine with Sauterne jelly and you can't visit Scotland without trying the beef, which might be served as a fillet with wild mushroom pithivier. On fine days, you can dine on the alfresco terrace overlooking the manicured lawns.
