Hengist
TV Chef Richard Phillips brings the modern European style of cooking that has made his two other Kent restaurants Thackerys and Richard Phillips at Chapel Down a success to this sleek, contemporary restaurant in the centre of the village of Aylesford. The six course tasting menu might include tea smoked Scottish salmon with marinated radish, young coriander, caviar and crème fraîche dressing, but if your more a three course kind of diner, then the a la carte features the likes of roast rump of Romney Marsh lamb with braised lamb breast, fondant potato, confit plum tomatoes, olive and lavender jus. And if you're wondering about that name, Hengist led the the first Anglo-Saxon invasion of Great Britain that landed in Aylesford in 449 A.D!
