Alex Aitken at The Jetty


This purpose built timber, glass and steel restaurant has gorgeous views over Mudeford Quay near Christchurch Harbour; you couldn't ask for a more relaxing spot for a romantic dinner. Its also the south coast home to the food of Alex Aitken, who has compiled an enticing menu that clearly bears his signature style of modern British cooking with all the European influences that infers. So red mullet comes with pissaladiere (an onion tart from the south of France) and a rosemary cream, while slow roast belly of pork is served with a very Italian linguine carbonara and some good old British pea puree for good measure. The approachable wine list is organised by style such as “round and aromatic”, making it very easy to navigate.
