Sam's of Brighton

The eponymous Sam worked at a number of top London restaurants before returning to his native South Coast to open Sevendials in the Seven Dials area of Brighton back in 2001, and now this charming contemporary bistro in the heart of Brighton's trendy Kemptown. Pull up a stool at the bar for a glass of St Etalon Sauvignon Blanc and a few Carlingford Irish rock oysters with shallot vinegar then settle in at one of the simple wooden tables for pan fried pigeon breast with potato gratin, spring greens and caper sauce or smoked salmon and mackerel roulade with pickled beetroot followed by confit duck leg with dauphinoise potatoes, green beans and red wine sauce. Weekend brunch includes what they claim to be the best full English in town, or you can indulge in eggs benedict and an early morning bucks fizz.
