This isn't just any old gastropub. Run by Nigel Haworth and Craig Bancroft of Michelin starred-Northcote fame, its the fourth of their Ribble Valley Inns that also includes the Three Fishes, The Highwayman and The Clog and Billycock. The rugged authenticity of the stone floors, exposed brick walls and bare wooden tables is echoed in the lengthy menu. Haworth's signature Lancashire Hotpot makes an appearance, this time made with free range chicken, leek and mushrooms and served with pickled white cabbage. Haworth has given plenty of other instantly recognisable pub classics a makeover including fish pie made with seafood from nearby Whitby and topped with Wensleydale cheese. For a taste of Yorkshire, try fumenty a dessert made with boiled cracked wheat and served with Dales raspberries.
