This 16th century Tudor manor house with Georgian and Victorian influences is home to two restaurants; the fine dining Equilibrium and this more relaxed option. Don’t worry, there’s no lack of luxury with linen covering the well spaced tables and comfortable upholstered armchairs to settle into. British ingredients are given a distinctly Mediterranean treatment on a lengthy menu that includes simple, well prepared dishes such as local asparagus, Parma ham, poached egg, hollandaise sauce and slow roast Cornish lamb shoulder with ratatouille. There’s comfort food in the shape of traditional English fish and chips with tartar sauce and mushy peas, or more adventurous options including confit pork belly, braised cheek and candied apple.
