Bread and Wine shares the same stripped back architectural approach to interior design as sister restaurant St John, all bear wooden tables, painted white walls and exposed pipe work. The menu language is as austere as the surroundings with no-messing-about dishes such as deep fried pig's head or cuttlefish and tomatoes. But this is a truly inviting place, open for a relaxed breakfast of pikelets and jam or a very civilised spot of elevenses in the form of seed cake served with a glass of Madeira. The delicious bread, baked on the premises lives up to its headline billing as does the carefully selected list of exclusively French wines that includes the restaurant’s own label house wines and champagne.
