Browns Hotel

A former 17th Century coaching inn set in the charming Devon town of Tavistock, Browns is now a contemporary town house hotel with a restaurant, brasserie and wine bar. There's refined dishes such as sautéed langoustine, smoked haddock risotto with a roasted langoustine and star anise bisque or fillet of Devon Ruby beef, truffled cauliflower, seared foie gras, baby leeks, and braised wild mushrooms in the smart restaurant with its linen covered tables and sparkling glass ware. For something a little more laid back, try the brasserie with its exposed brickwork, colourful chairs and simpler offering of beer battered fish of the day, tartare sauce and chunky chips or grilled sirloin steak, roasted vine tomato,field mushroom, crisp onion and Madeira jus.
