Malmaison Brasserie

Part of a nationwide group of glamorous, eccentrically designed boutique hotels, Malmaison brasserie offers reasonably priced, modern European food right in the city centre. Start with half a dozen Maldon oysters or a classic fillet steak tartar, quail egg, toasted sour dough from the seasonally changing menu. Main courses might include an unusual duck “Shepard’s pie” or char grilled veal cutlet served with tomato fondue. Look out for the Home Grown and Local set lunch and dinner menu that highlights produce from local suppliers. The extensive list of wines and spirits (carefully compiled by Johnny Walker, the hotel group's appropriately named beverage manager) is a real delight.
