Part of a nationwide group of glamorous, eccentrically designed boutique hotels, Malmaison brasserie offers reasonably priced, modern European food right in the city centre. The seasonally changing menu might include a very French terrine of chicken, sweetbreads and foie gras with gribiche sauce or a sophisticated main of fillet of gurnard, harricot blanc, roasted asparagus and tomato vinaigrette. Look out for the Home Grown and Local set lunch and dinner menu that highlights produce from local suppliers. The extensive list of wines and spirits (carefully compiled by Johnny Walker, the hotel group's appropriately named beverage manager) is a real delight.
