Chez Bruce
If only every neighbourhood restaurant was as good as Chez Bruce. The attention to detail in everything from the warm greeting at the door to the home made complementary palmiers served with coffee makes eating here a joy. Expect outstanding Modern European cooking in the form of quail pithiviers with mushroom duxelle, shallot purée and red wine sauce. The menu changes daily, but look out for a velvety smooth foie gras parfait, roast cod with olive oil mash, Piedmontese pepper and gremolata and one of the best crème brulees in London. This hugely popular restaurant can be tough to get into so plan ahead for a buzzy Saturday night dinner. For a more relaxed atmosphere, grab a book-on-the-day bargain lunch.
