63/64 Frith Street, London, W1D 3JW
Arbutus is a bustling, modern bistro, with stylish décor and contemporary feel; its focus on modern artwork and design ties it closely to its fashionable Soho neighbourhood. Opened in May 2006 as the first project of renowned chef Anthony Demetre and manager Will Smith (who also own Wild Honey and Les Deux Salons), this trend setting restaurant was first on the block with 'fine dining' quality food served in casual surroundings, full a la carte menu available at the bar and all wines on the interesting and well chosen list available by the 250ml carafe. Several of the dishes became instant London classics and are still on the otherwise regulalry changing menu including squid and mackerel ‘burger’, pieds et paquets (lambs’ tripe, shoulder and trotters) and saddle of rabbit with slow cooked shoulder cottage pie. Set lunch and pre-theatre menus are one of the city's great bargains.
Arbutus is part of the following Travel Ideas:
"Anthony Demetre transforms lesser known cut of meat into stunning dishes in his smart and buzzy Soho restaurant. Take a seat at the bar and feast on crisp pigs head; ‘pieds et paquets’ (lambs’ tripe parcels and trotters) or the signature squid and mackerel ‘burger’."
