The Waterside Inn

The Waterside Inn is just your everyday, local neighbourhood French joint - if your name is Terry Wogan or Michael Parkinson that is. To the rest of the population, this is perhaps the ultimate destination restaurant. Run by legendary chef Michel Roux Snr and his son Alain, the seasonally changing menu of classical French dishes might include the signature pan-fried lobster medallion with a white port sauce and ginger flavoured vegetable julienne or fillet of sole filled with a soft broad bean mousse. Michel Roux is one of the world's master pastry chefs so desserts such as "grande assiette de douceurs au chocolat" are a must, as is coffee and digestifs in one of the restaurant's two riverside summerhouses.
