The Wee Restaurant
Diminutive by name, diminutive by nature. There’s room for just 24 people in this simply decorated dining room with its white washed stone walls and smart wooden tables and chairs. But there’s nothing small about the food of chef Craig Wood who learnt his craft with luminaries including Michelin starred Martin Wishart and revered American chef Charlie Trotter. The sensibly short menu might include robust starters such as chicken liver parfait or mussels with bacon, basil, pine nuts and Parmesan. Reasonably priced main courses pack in a surprising amount of luxury ingredients including foie gras with loin of venison and langoustines with pan fried sea bass with creamed leeks and cocotte potatoes.
