Three Crowns Inn

If this family-run pub’s ambition is to source the best possible local produce and create from it dishes that are rustic in conception but refined in execution, then its one met in spades. The highly attractive restaurant within the brick and timber 16th century inn serves a set two or three course lunch menu alongside the à la carte. Daily changing items might include an autumnal roast woodcock with its liver served in a risotto; sautéd squid and chorizo with shaved fennel, or mussels with black beans, ginger and spring onions. Gutsy mains might include peppered sirloin of Herefordshire beef; crisp belly of Shortwood farm pork with homemade black pudding and mustard mash or hake and potato pie. Rhubarb crème brûlée may follow.
