The Road Hole Grill

If the name conjurs images of a lorry driver’s greasy roadside caff, then think again. This is the elegant top floor restaurant of the stunning Old Course Hotel. There’s panoramic views of the fairways from your comfortable armchair in the wood paneled dining room that’s hung with crystal chandeliers. The menu incorporates fine Scottish produce in inventive dishes such as Orkney scallops with smoked bacon tortellini and crushed peas or a velouté of sweet potato with Arbroath smokie. Main courses range from straightforward grills to fillet of Speyside beef with root vegetables, forest mushrooms and red wine jus and a complex tasting of Arshire pork that includes the roasted loin, slow cooked belly and croquette of cheek.
