The Old Vicarage Restaurant

Chef-patron Tessa Bramley will be familiar to foodies from her TV appearances. Her culinary home is an idyllic country house restaurant with a beautifully proportioned, restful dining room complete with fireplace and mirrors. Just about anything edible that can be grown comes from her kitchen garden while meat is locally sourced. She shares cooking duties with Nathan Smith, forming a formidable alliance for their modern British menu. A casserole of crayfish and scallops with cardamom, cumin and lemongrass, or baked red mullet with tapenade and Gruyère crisp may tempt, as may local hare with spiced pears and beetroot. Baked chocolate pudding with fudge cake or gooseberry crème brûlée make for wickedly sweet endings.
