The Fat Duck

The Fat Duck is Britain's most famous restaurant. Named one of the 50 best in the world, scientific chef Heston Blumenthal's outrageous sounding creations including snail porridge and sardine on toast ice cream have hit the headlines. Eating in the oak beamed dining room of this converted village pub is a singular experience. From the palate cleansing lime and green tea sour poached in a bubbling cauldron of dry ice at the table side to a glass of "hot and iced tea", the tasting menu is a 14 course theme park ride for the senses. Listen to waves crashing on the beach on an I Pod as you eat "Sound of the Sea" and savour the earthy aroma of oak moss while you enjoy quail jelly with cream of langoustine and parfait of foie gras.
