Unpretentious, warm and friendly, this lively ground floor brasserie and more formal first floor restaurant on a side street just up from Torquay harbour is everything you could want from a neighbourhood restaurant. Chef Simon Hulstone is one of the most technically accomplished cooks in the country and employs his prodigious skills to create delicious food with real impact. Served in a cocktail glass, Paignton crab and creamed avocado with warm crab beignet and caviar is topped off with a scoop of mango and sweetcorn ice cream while chocolate and olive oil truffle with red pepper jelly and hibiscus is a daring yet wholly successful way to end a meal.
