The Creel
This unpretentious restaurant with its stunning harbour views has been home to Alan and Joyce Craigie for the past 21 years. From the homemade bannocks to the soda bread, this is Scotland at its most charming. The Creel has an enviable amount of fish at its doors from familiar scallops, mackerel, mussels and lobster to the obscure but equally delicious torsk and sea witch. The menu might feature green crab bisque with megrim or roasted wolf fish topped with Lammermuir cheese-smoked crumbs. For those of a more carnivorous persuasion, there’s seaweed-fed lamb or Orkney beef. Finish with the classic Scottish dessert of Cranachan made with toasted oatmeal, cream and whisky.
