Despite the apparent pomp and circumstance, this welcoming establishment attracts serious foodies and families out for a relaxed Sunday lunch alike. The beautiful dining room overlooks the lake and deer park and provides a seriously elegant backdrop to Andy Burton’s seasonal menu. Produce doesn’t get more local that the hotel’s own kitchen garden and estate. Feast on a silky velouté soup of "walled garden" squash with a saltimbocca of rabbit and ginger bread or pan roasted estate venison with venison suet pudding, potato purée and sage and onion jus. A notable cheeseboard spotlights British produce like crumbly Swaledale.
