Overview

Whether you're looking to enjoy the very best in British luxury dining or experience Pan-Asian cuisine bursting with flavour, Seaham Hall and its restaurants are amongst the most exclusive places to eat in Durham. The ever-changing menus feature only the freshest, local ingredients, while their dedicated team and fabulous location promise a unique and truly unforgettable dining experience.

Where is The Dining Room located?

From the glittering 14 carat gold plated chandeliers, to the fabulous Georgian windows that frame stunning views of the Vortex, the interior and ambience of The Dining Room draws inspiration from Lord Byron's enchanting portrait which hangs splendidly on the wall of the restaurant.

What cuisine is on offer at The Dining Room?

Cuisine is very natural with a slight Scandi/Nordic feel, meaning it's very light, with vegetables playing an equally important part of the dish, presented in a very simple way so the ingredients can be eaten together in harmony. Modern techniques mixed with traditional and long forgotten techniques such as fermenting, foraging and curing to showcase the ingredient in its best form from the humble carrot to the most expensive 250 day dry aged beef – they all get the same respect and love shown to them, creating a unique dish and experience for the guest.

What is the signature dish at The Dining Room?

Guests will love the 45 Day Dry Aged Galloway Beef from Nook Farm in Grewelthorpe grilled over charcoal embers, served with Isle of Wight Heritage Tomato Salad.

What makes a meal at The Dining Room unique?

Seaham Hall use small, local and passionate suppliers who rear a small number of animals and grow vegetables using the most ‘welfare friendly' farming techniques. 90% of all produce used is locally sourced within a 20 mile radius. What the suppliers have available, in the best condition, dictates what is put on the menu, sometimes the menu can be changed twice in a service.
