The Plough at Bolnhurst

This handsome, white painted medieval building is home to Raymond Blanc-trained chef Martin Lee and wife Jayne, a couple with extensive experience of running successful dining pubs together with their partner Michael Moscrop. Low ceilings sporting exposed beams makes for an invitingly cosy atmosphere. The menu changes regularly to reflect the seasons and might include a sophisticated starter of seared scallops with cauliflower puree and caper and sultana dressing or a more hearty main of slow cooked free range pork with mashed potato, red cabbage and baby onions. A list of 'simpler dishes' offers a steak sandwich and for those who just want a pint and a bite to eat, the snack menu features the likes of devils on horseback and homemade crisps.
