Paul Ainsworth at No. 6

Paul Ainsworth has built up a devoted following at his Padstow restaurant for creating menus around local, seasonal ingredients, often humble in nature, cooked in a simple modern style with a Cornish influence. The intimate dining spaces in this converted Georgian townhouse are overseen by Karenza May and her team, who serve dishes created by a team of chefs led by Paul Ainsworth (who trained under Rhodes, Ramsay and Wareing), and award-winning head chef John Walton. The chefs aim to create unpretentious dishes that really get the best out of the ingredients: crispy pigs head, crackling and smoked eel, served with salad cream; Cornish lamb shoulder, salsa verde, spinach, lamb's offal and potato. A three course ‘Express Lunch’ is also available at £17. And having triumphed in the 2011 edition of Great British Menu, guests will be delighted to see the winning dessert ‘Taste of the Fairground’ now on the menu at Number 6.
