In all the fuss over Ludlow as the foodie capital of Britain, Mr Underhill’s has been somewhat unfairly overlooked by the media. A shame, as this substantial property by Dinham Weir has the prettiest location in town. Run to great acclaim for over 25 years by self taught chef Chris Bradley and his wife Judy, the restaurant offers an indulgent six course set meal with a choice of desserts. Made from mostly local, seasonal and organic produce, a typical menu might begin with a velvety soup of butternut squash with parmesan froth and sweet, aged Balsamic vinegar, followed by a rich foie gras custard with roasted rack and slow cooked shoulder of Marches lamb making a substantial main course. The restaurant also offers suite accommodation.
