The French Restaurant

This wildly opulent hotel restaurant is more reminiscent of the grand hotel dining rooms of Paris than the mean streets of Manchester. There’s nothing restrained or even vaguely modern about the white framed mirrored panels, chandeliers, wall lights and patterned beige wallpaper. And it’s all the more glorious for that. Service lives up to the surroundings with trolleys and silver domes galore. Chef Paul Beckley serves a modern take on classic French cuisine with a measure of Italian influence. So expect the likes of hand dived scallops with confit Cumbrian pork and apple purée alongside a traditional minestrone with Parmesan and garlic croutes. And there's a decidedly British accent to a dessert of custard tart, nutmeg ice cream and Eccles cake.
