Overview

Lords of the Manor is a glorious Grade II listed former Rectory that dates back to 1649. The hotel prides itself on offering excellent service with 26 luxurious bedrooms and two dining rooms. It also provides a beautiful location for afternoon tea on the lawn or a private spot for a wedding or special event.

Where is Lords of the Manor Hotel located?

Upper Slaughter is a delightful village located in the heart of the Cotswolds near the popular towns of Bourton-on-the Water and Stow-on-the-Wold. There are lots of country walks from the doorstep (the hotel even offers wellingtons!) and numerous places to visit. Cheltenham with its famous race course and the Roman town of Cirencester are both within an easy drive. Access to the hotel can also be easily gained by train from London in 120 minutes to Kingham station (with a 20 min taxi from the station). Upper Slaughter is a peaceful village, offering a quiet calm, and is one of only a handful of Doubly Thankful villages in UK, having lost no serving residents in either WW1 or WW2.

What cuisine is on offer at Lords of the Manor Hotel?

Head Chef Charles Smith provides an exciting and varied cuisine, honed from his experience over the years at Petrus by Marcus Wareing, Per Se (at the time rated the best restaurant in New York, rated 10th in the world), Kitchen Table, Fera at Claridges, and most recently the Michelin-Starred Alyn Williams at The Westbury. Menus at Lords change frequently and are driven by the seasons. A seven course tasting menu is available. Cuisine includes modern British and European dishes.

What is the signature dish at Lords of the Manor Hotel?

If Charles had to choose one signature dish, it would be the English rose veal carpaccio, with whipped anchovy and horseradish crème fraiche, potato crisp and Oscietra caviar. The veal is naturally reared pink seven-course, sourced directly from a Lake District farm, who, having experienced the devastation of losing their entire herd to foot and mouth disease, decided to stop the destruction of unwanted dairy bull calves, and instead create a market for them. The quality is superb and the dish is something very special.

What makes a meal at Lords of the Manor Hotel unique?

It is incredibly important to the team at Lords of the Manor that guests enjoy a special dining experience. From the first class service presented by a small, dedicated team, to the exquisite food carefully prepared to not only look exciting, but, more importantly, taste sublime, nothing is overlooked. Ingredients are sourced from the best suppliers and the hotel's herb garden provides chefs with fresh herbs and garnishes. Dietary requirements are always taken into consideration, with special dishes created for those with allergies or concerns. A sommelier is always available to assist with wine pairings.
