Lochgreen House Hotel

Set in thirty acres of Ayrshire country side, this substantial former private mansion is now a delightfully grand country house hotel. There’s garden views from the Tapestry restaurant where chef Andrew Costley's modern British menu is full of luxury ingredients and sometimes complex but never less than interesting ideas. Begin with a very French boudin of quail on sauteed spinach paired with a sophisticatedly Scottish truffled potato scone. Follow with pan fried fillet of halibut served with Arbroath smoked haddock gnocchi or a medallion of Scottish beef fillet served with a Bourguignonne garnish. Desserts give a new twist to old classics such as a rum and raisin crème caramel with anise breadcrumbs and pineapple compote.
