The Restaurant is overseen by Chef James Golding (ex Mark Hix – Ivy, Caprice, Sheeky’s and Soho House New York). James’s two key lieutenants won’t be his sous chefs but his forager and his kitchen gardener. This is an utterly genuine reinvented way of running the kitchen; the menus will change by the minute depending upon what the forager turns up with or what the kitchen gardener deems to be in perfect condition. Home grown with clarity of flavour, true to the micro seasons and influenced by the forest – these are the drivers of the food style. Our further commitment to the 15 mile menu - whereby some 95% of fresh ingredients will be sourced in the local area.

Ten Places for a Perfect Weekend in Hampshire by Natalie French
"Feast... The Pig Hotel is a foodie’s haven surrounded by the 1000 year old New Forest National Park. Chef James Golding, whose CV includes the Ivy, Caprice and Soho House New York, produces an ever-changing menu, using home grown delights unearthed by his forager and kitchen gardener that day. When it comes to the dishes, the name is a bit of a give-away - expect lots of piggy-inspired creations such as Saddleback Crackling & Crab Apple Sauce and Slow Roasted Pork Belly."

Review of The Pig - rooms & kitchen garden food
Posted on by Will BType of travel: Couples
The Pig certainly lived up to its reputation.... Crackling and apple sauce before we started, cured meats for starters and the best roast pork I have ever had for the main course - even the cabbage had grated bacon in it! (there was also plenty of non pork choices on the menu...) I also liked the countryside setting and good friendly service.
