Kilcamb Lodge Hotel

Once a Jacobean lodge, the stone house with its enviable position on the banks of Lock Sunart, had two wings built in Victorian times. Sally and David Ruthven Fox have added layers of luxury within the 10-room hotel, the kitchen sourcing produce from Ardamurchan Peninsula’s natural game and fish larder. The fish that on-view eagles and otters don’t catch end up on the menu include Mallaig skate wing with baby capers; local venison fashioned into sausages and wood pigeon married with celeriac purée and spiced pears. Finish with poached winter fruits and dark rum sabayon or a lemon and lime tart. A simpler lunch menu may include Sunart mussels and salmon and crab fishcakes. The interesting wine list is attractively priced.
