With a menu more akin to a swanky London restaurant and with service to match, this stylish boutique hotel restaurant joins the increasing ranks of the Isle of Wight’s must-visit establishments. With views from the curtain-free windows of a dashing Solent, the dining room is decked out with mirrors, marble fireplace and white napery. Chef Robert Thompson (formerly of the highly acclaimed Winteringham Fields in North Lincolnshire) raids the island's natural resources from both land and sea for beautifully composed dishes such as sardines poached in olive oil, Piquillo peppers, basil, garlic and saffron with sautéed squid. The full extent of Thompson's talent is expressed in his tasting menu that might include pan fried sea bass, lasagne of local crab with kafia lime, chilli and sautéed pak choi.
