The Gurnard's Head

This restaurant and pub with rooms on the Atlantic coast of Cornwall is under the same ownership as the acclaimed Felin Fach Griffin in Wales. Bare wood tables and chairs against flagstone floors of the bar area give way to the bright blue and terracotta painted restaurant. A short, regularly changing menu is a blend of European influences and British seafood cookery. Start with a plate of smoked Cornish pilchards with beetroot and horseradish pickle or try an Andalusian-style white gazpacho made with bread and almonds. Main courses might include a turbot stew with “Cornish Earlies” (new potatoes) or there's Rump of Lamb with chard gratin for meat lovers. A fixed mark up on the wine list makes for affordable drinking.
