There are stunning views of the 310 acres of land surrounding this elegant country house hotel restaurant. Chef Paul Moffat cooks straightforward, modern European food using local and regional food from the coveted Scottish larder. Set menus at lunch and dinner might kick off with melon and rose jelly with rhubarb sorbet or Abroath smokie and goat’s cheese soufflé followed by grey mullet paired with Ayrshire bacon. Seasons are shown off to advantage by asparagus velouté, Highland venison and Castle Douglas lamb shank. The cheese board celebrates Scottish produce such as Mull cheddar and Gruth Dhu. Relax with an after dinner digestif by the open log fire in the main reception room.
