Located in the upmarket Montpellier Quarter in the centre of Harrogate, this outstanding fish restaurant counts chic boutiques, art galleries and antique shops among its near neighbours. A converted pub, the Drum and Monkey has sustained a reputation for serving some of the best fish in the North for thirty years. Start simply with half a dozen Pacific oysters, a plate of smoked salmon or prawn cocktail or go for something more luxurious like a hot shellfish platter with garlic butter. Classic mains include whole grilled Dover sole or seafood pie or a more adventurous Malaysian fish brochette. At lunch there's seafood salads and sandwiches plus more substantial offerings such as fillet of whiting with crab stuffing, mushrooms and glazed hollandaise.
