Designed by Anouska Hempel, the intimate, light wood panelled room is the last word in romantic luxury. Sink into your large, comfortable arm chair and prepare for a bout of chef Adam Simmonds's no-holds-barred modern gastronomy. Masterful flavour combinations and an artists eye for presentation make complex dishes such as sautéed loin and rack of rabbit with grapefruit, pomelos (a kind of citrus fruit) and pistachio a true delight. Desserts are imaginative and daring riffs on a theme; butternut squash is made into an ice cream and tuile biscuit and accompanied by apple ravioli and sage jelly. The polished service will guide you through the menu and find you the perfect wine from an interesting and unusual list. Take coffee and delicious petit fours in the spectacular double height grand hall.
