Carlton Riverside Restaurant with Rooms

In November 2006, husband and wife team Mary Ann and Alan Gilchrist moved their 16 year old restaurant with rooms to new premises just 300 yards away. A meal in the cosy but elegant dining room comes complete with charming views of the river Irfon. Mary Ann’s four course, no choice menu might begin with a warm salad of seared scallops with a lime and coriander dressing with crisped Carmarthen ham followed by roast fillet of local beef topped with seared foie gras and a morel and Madeira sauce. The local theme is maintained by a plate of Welsh cheeses. A warm chocolate fondant might finish the proceedings. Alan Gilchrist is renowned as a good humoured, bonhominous host.
