Bodysgallen Hall
Two hundred acres of parkland, views of Snowdonia – what’s not to love about this handsome 17th century hall? Crystal chandeliers and open fireplaces give the dining rooms that overlook the gardens a touch of grandeur. There’s homemade scones for afternoon tea and roast sirloin of Welsh Black beef for Sunday “luncheon”, but the main event here is dinner. The regularly changing menu of local, seasonal produce might begin with home-smoked quail with tomato jelly and foie gras or seared sea scallops with golden raisin puree and cauliflower cream. Main courses might include an unusual cannelloni of rabbit with Cabernet Sauvignon dressing, but the chef is just as happy to serve a grilled fillet steak on request.
