This elegantly decorated restaurant overlooking Emsworth bay is one of the best on the South Coast. Chef Ramon Farthing made his name hovering up awards in notable West Country restaurants such as Calcot Manor and Harvey’s of Bristol before opening this fine dining establishment with wife Karen. Seared scallops, peashoot, crisp apple and Serrano ham salad with passion fruit dressing and beetroot syrup juggles complex flavours with dexterity. Modish combinations such as seared foie gras with curry spiced apple tatin sit alongside a veal medallion with sweetbreads, braised red cabbage and Lyonnaise potato. You may need a night in one of the restaurant’s four bedrooms to recover from the ten course tasting menu.
