Highland Folk Museum, Kingussie and Newtonmore

The Highland Folk Museum has two sites located within the Cairngorms National Park, one in Kingussie and the other at Newtonmore. Kingussie first opened in 1944, here you will find the core collections as well as the ´Blackhouse´, Britain´s oldest re-created building. Newtonmore opened in 1995 and is a living history site including re-constructed buildings, a 1700s township and a 1930s working farm. Both Museums aim to preserve and record aspects of Highland life from the 1700s onwards. Allow 4-5 hours to fully experience both museums. Facilities vary at the Museums, please check our website for full details.
