People´s Palace Museum and Winter Gardens

The People´s Palace Museum and Winter Gardens opened in 1898, the collection displays the historical, social and cultural history of Glasgow, and its people from 1750 to the present. Displays tell the story of the Tobacco Lords who lived in sumptuous mansions to the poor families who lived in `Single Ends´, one roomed tenements. Reconstructed building interiors include a flat, a shop and an air-raid shelter and objects on display range from suffragette banners to Billy Connolly´s banana boots. Attached to the Palace is the Winter Gardens, an elegant Victorian glass house featuring tropical plants
