Hunterian Museum

The Hunterian Museum is Scotland´s first public museum, established in 1807 and located within the Gothic splendour of the University of Glasgow. Based on the vast collections of Dr William Hunter (1718-83) who was a student at the University in the 1730s, and later acquired fame as a noted physician and medical teacher in London. The exhibits have grown into one of the largest collections in the United Kingdom with new and exciting additions every year. It has unique exhibits of Romans in Scotland, Scottish fossils including the 325 million year old Bearsden shark, dinosaurs from Scotland, Scottish minerals and scientific instruments.
