Leeds City Art Gallery is one of the premier venues for visual arts in the north, which opened in 1888, with its nationally designated fine art collections that range from early 19th to late 20th centuries. An outstanding collection of English watercolours, fine Victorian academic and pre-Raphaelite painting, late 19th century pictures as well as one of the most extensive collections of modern art. A changing exhibition programme throughout the year represents reviews and explorations of 20th century art.
